We promised networking with members in break-out discussions. ✅
We made the content available as a Vimeo showcase in convenient chunks. ✅

Today I spent the day with members of the Association of Creative & Print Managers in Education (ACPME) for their ‘Creative Climates’ Virtual Event. I have to say they are a fantastic group of professionals from all over the UK and guests from overseas who all share a common goal. The virtual event enabled them to come together, share ideas, discuss common challenges and how to overcome them. There was a real sense of purpose, passion and positivity, it was great to see.

‘Getting Creative in a Crisis’ 

We heard Lightning Talks from four ACPME members of how they have adapted their services during the pandemic.

Dene Fletcher (University of Reading) explained how Creative and Print Services supported the university and contributed to safe ways of working across their campuses, demonstrating huge savings with in-house large format print and installation.

Andrew Brockbank (Oxford Brookes University) told us how Brookes Print grasped an opportunity to utilise its online shop (DSF) to create a stationery click & collect service following the closure of a store on their main campus.

Paul Bishop (Sheffield Hallam University) covered how his team managed to ensure that the Print Department was an integral part of the plans to reopen the campus after the first lockdown.

Helen Clarke (Loughborough University) told us how she diversified services, providing PPE provision, signage, processing almost double the normal of parcels per day – including contactless covid-secure 24 hr lockers, flexing job descriptions and taking the opportunity to rewrite business plans, draft strategies and propose an overhaul of their financial model to define long-term security.

We think our first online conference went really well.
Bob Neubauer (Editor, In-plant Impressions) commented it was “better than many virtual conferences I’ve seen. The transition between recorded and live content was seamless, and it was great to have the chance to see and talk with others in the Zoom breakouts.” He wasted no time writing this article for his magazine.
